Lakeshore Neuropsychology houses a collection of books and other resources that may be helpful to people who are experiencing a range of health issues that impact brain functioning (e.g. brain injury, stroke, dementia, etc.).
There are general resources for those looking for information, like The 36-Hour Day by Mace and Rabins (2012), which provides a wealth of practical information for those who are providing care for those with dementia.
Other resources are simply books written by others who have faced similar challenges and want to share their wisdom, like Over My Head by Osborn (2000), a book written by a physician who experienced a severe head injury, which details her process of recovery and adaptation to a meaningful life.
Patients and families are encouraged to review the resources in the library when they arrive for an appointment. In addition, the Lending Library will be open Tuesdays from 4:00 to 6:00pm. For a small deposit, materials may be checked out for a brief period. This is primarily offered as a service to raise awareness of helpful resources.
